Our social dance classes are perfect for those checking out ballroom dance or interested in learning how to dance for social events. You don’t need a partner or any dance experience for a social dance class, and you can drop in any time. There is no need to dress up or wear ballroom dance shoes, though if you have a pair, or a pair of dress shoes (or even socks/jazz shoes) it makes dancing much easier.
All classes are open to everyone – no experience, partner, or special shoes are required. All participants are required by UC Berkeley to fill out a facilities waiver form. If you are stopping in for the first time, come a bit early to have time to fill it out.
Drop-In Social Classes
Berkeley Ballroom offers beginner social classes each week 251 Hearst Gym. Our Summer 2012 classes will begin in June, with a different dance taught each week at the beginner level. Please check the social calendar for more information. We are also offering series classes in Salsa and Swing this Summer. Please see below for more information.

Social Series Program
UCBD is excited to offer a Swing and Salsa dance series class on Tuesdays starting in June (exact date TBA)! Each series class will be a 4-class series dance, providing an opportunity to learn each dance more in-depth, as well as extended practice social dancing with their classmates. A pass for each series is $20 for students and $28 for non-students.
These classes will be held in Wheeler Hall lobby area from 7-8 PM. For a schedule of when these series classes start, please check the UCBD Social Calendar. We hope you take advantage of this exciting new opportunity!
Registration
To sign up for this class, please email the UCBD Social Coordinator at social@ucbd.org with your name and student or non-student status. You must notify us by email in order to secure your spot. If signing up as a student, please bring your student ID to the first class.
